Wednesday, Strategies Class
July 6th - Serves and Returns
The five aspects of great serves and returns: Consistency (100% in), Depth (on the last 1/3 of the court), Placement (to FH or BH of opponents), Power and Spin.
- A good Serve forces a weak Return.
- A good Return allows you to get to NVZ, and be set before the servers could touch the ball again. Forces servers to do a difficult 3rd shot.
Important: while advancing to NVZ, the returner should stop (freeze) when the servers are about to hit the ball again. A short return does not give enough time to cross the Transition Zone and be set at the NVZ.
