I would like to join the Camp, but my partner do not want to participate. What options do we have?
If one of the family member joins the Camp, the other(s) could participate at the afternoons' games and tournament, paying the Academy half of the Pickleball portion of the Camp.
How hot is going to be during the Camp?
Our first portion of the day is between 7:30am and 9:30am, and the second part 4:30pm and 6:00pm, when the temperatures are bearable. Nevertheless we will be taking water breaks in the shade, and we provide ice cubes for cooling of the bodies and the beverages.
I cannot stay too long exposed to Sun. Is there any shade?
At Las Brisas the courts are partially in the shade, especially at the hours when we do the lessons and play. The players will rotate their positions on courts, so everyone takes turns on shaded courts. For out of resort options, our courts at La Ceiba in Crucecita are covered, so there are protected against direct Sun rays.
The Camp is for players between 2.0 and 4.0. Why it has such a wide range of skill levels?
Our Camp's main idea is game strategy and learning how to construct point and win the rally. This applies to ALL levels. The difference between different skill levels comes when the players tries to apply the strategy during games. More experienced players will be more successful, but the all learn the same concept. Anyhow, the players will be divided in smaller groups, of similar skill level.
What is your Camp's student/coach ratio?
Our student / coach ratio is the optimal 8:1. With two coaches at hand, we provide the best quality of lessons, demonstrations and games.
How many hours of instructions are in the Camp?
On court time is 15 hours, during the week. For first five days half of the time are classes, and the other half observed games. The sixth and the last day we will run a fun mini tourney.
Can you break down for me the Pickleball portion from the total cost of the Camp?
The Pickleball portion includes classes, observed games, on court refreshments, extra games, exhibition games with coaches, gift bag, t-shirt, cooling towel and more. All of the above for only $675CAD per student.
Pandemic, Natural Disaster or Unforeseen Cancellation Circumstances:
If a camp needs to be delayed due to an unforeseen circumstance such as a pandemic or natural disaster, your full credit will be held by Academy of Pickleball until the camp date is rescheduled (within 12 months). If the student cannot attend the make-up date, a full refund will be issued at that time.
I hear Huatulco is a great touristic attraction. What can we visit while there?
Known for it’s nice bays and miles of beautiful beaches, Huatulco is perfect for vacationers interested in a mix of culture and relaxation. I you stay at Las Brisas various small excursions are offered by various travel companies. If you stay out of resort, we will be offering a boat trip, where you will have the chance to visit all nine beaches of Bahias de Huatulco, snorkel, swim and taste a delicious seafood dish at a local restaurant.
